  • Principle of Publication

    Daisanbunmei (literally“the 3rd civilization”) means the civilization which enables all people to live happily in the peaceful world without war.
    It is based on new humanism originated from the teachings of Nichiren, a 13th-century Japanese Buddhist sage and scholar, whose philosophy is the essence of Oriental thoughts. Our publication spreads in the cultural field such as philosophy, religion, thought, education, music, art and literature.

  • History

    Monthly magazine “Daisanbunmei” was first published in November 1960.
    In the congratulatory message to the first issue, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda says,“All people hope for the construction of Daisanbunmei, which advances to the future, exceeding materialism and leading spiritualism. I wish this magazine to be the epitome of your enthusiasm for intelligence and practice.”
    Daisanbunmei has been widely read by a lot of readers, especially young people, spreading thought-provoking ideas.

    Monthly magazine“Todai”(literally“lighthouse”) was published as an educational magazine for teachers in September 1962. Now its readers are mothers, fathers, teachers and all people interested in education.
    It has offered various beneficial information for readers to grapple with education, introducing the achievements of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, a great educator and the founder of SokaGakkai.

    Daisanbunmei-sha, Inc. was established on the 1st of July 1969, and started publishing books as well as magazines. Since then it has continued active publication in many fields.
